getting badauth when updating subdomain, but root domain works fine?

Whenever i go to update my root domain with ddns everything works but whenever i try to update a subdomain i am getting a badauth error. Any idea as to why that might be? Issue with the way ubiquiti edgerouters update subdomains?

The update URL for the primary domain is https://api.dynu.com/nic/update?hostname=DOMAIN&password=PASSWORD and for a subdomain SUB.DOMAIN is https://api.dynu.com/nic/update?hostname=DOMAIN&alias=SUB&password=PASSWORD. So what works for the primary domain may not work for a subdomain created under the primary domain.
